I want to control 16 old CRTs with two Mac Pros.
Each CRT should screen one Quicktime-movie in PAL-resolution.
They should run in sync in QT Loop-mode.
Is ArraySync able to do the job.
What Mac Pros do I need for a stable and fluid performance?
Will the first Generation of Mac Pros with 3 additional graphic cards do the job.
Whats about usb-to-video solution? Will they handle the CRTs?

If you can put four dual-display cards into each Mac Pro, then yes you should be able to drive 16 CRT displays. You'll want to be sure to use a low-compression production codec. I recommend Apple Intermediate Codec. If you can make all the screens attached to a single Mac Pro play one large video file spanning all the displays, rather than 8 separate video files, that would be best.

That's questionable, 8 different movies is asking a lot of any computer. I couldn't make any guarantee on your system if it would work right or not. Be sure to use Apple Intermediate Codec if you try it out.
