Re: I have a mac os x 10.3.9

OK, by 2007 Macs were into the OS X 10.4.x series, but they are now so old that apparently Apple stores might not service them anymore, which is why it is a good plan to upgrade to a new Mac every few years or so. In fact I have a brand new, later-2007 iMac in a factory wrapped, unopened box, which ...

Re: I have a mac os x 10.3.9

Yeah, I must agree that a Mac OS X 10.3.9 is outdated. So far, the thing about Mac computers is that an upgrade to a new model every two or three years is necessary. Yeah, call it the cost of living, but that is how it goes. BTDT.

Re: Flash player for iPad

@ thor0128 Thanks, but I have serious reservations about using Flash Player on my newer Apple computers, no matter how it could be supported. In fact, I signed on to this board, Info-Mac, BECAUSE of the troubles I experienced after downloading Flash Player onto a 2011 Mac OS X Lion. Maybe the newer ...

Re: Flash player for iPad

OK, that leads to another question. A couple of years ago Apple said that Flash Player was the #1 cause of trouble with Apple computers, and then Apple said that it was backing the new HTML5 standard, as a replacement for Flash Player. And so, what is the current status of HTML5?

Re: Haiya!

When it comes to the Internet and going online, Mac computers are about as sure-footed as a mountain goat, reliably good. Yes, occasionally I will get the "spinning beach ball of death" where the computer gets frozen, but clicking on a different window such as mail, to get away from the fr...

Re: Haiya!

Hi, There is no such thing as a "perfect" computer, especially when it comes to going online. They all have their flaws. But I found the management of Mac computers to be much easier to deal with than any other. A friend of mine recently got a Windows 7 computer, brand new, and then tried ...

Re: Haiya!

Welcome! I used Microsoft-based computers for years, but got overwhelmed with unending security updates, etc., and so several years ago I switched over to Apple/Mac computers. And then suddenly, my life got so much easier.

I think you will enjoy being part of the Apple/Mac community.

Re: Hardware trouble, or software trouble?

Hi brendank, I have not tried connecting them together by firewire, but they both are connected together by a hardware firewall/router. However, you could be on to something and an inexpensive piece of firewire just might do the trick. But yes, my "bad" OS X Lion otherwise does appear to b...

Re: Hardware trouble, or software trouble?

You very well could be right. I installed FP on my 2006 OS X Tiger, then on my 2010 OS X Snow Leopard, and had no trouble with FP, whatsoever. And I am not one to go to websites known to cause trouble. And so maybe it all comes down to hardware trouble. But I am left to guess about that. At the time...

Re: Hardware trouble, or software trouble?

OK, so I had some trouble with my OS X Lion computer, but that probably was my fault because I installed Flash Player after I had been warned to not do so. Yet I do have some nice things to say about Mac mini computers. Of course, if only the latest and greatest will do, then you need an iMac. But i...

Re: Hardware trouble, or software trouble?

Well, as I was saying, the OS X Lion that I have with FP installed can not even turn its monitor on, so there is no way for it to go online, for a fresh install. And as of that model, no install disk is included and there is no CD/DVD drive. In the long run, however, I am considering that it is near...

Hardware trouble, or software trouble?

A couple of years ago word got out from Apple that installing Flash Player could lead to various security troubles, etc. Then, in July 2011, and due to a nearby lightning strike, I had to replace both of my two Apple computers, and so I now have two identical OS X Lion Mac mini computers. But with t...

Hello, from a new member ...

This is my first post here, and hello to everybody! I am a small-time user, mostly email, web surfing and a couple of phpBB boards. I was a Microsoft user for years, but the unending stream of patches and updates to Windows XP became tiresome, to say the least, and so I switched over to a Mac mini i...
