You probably need a set of install floppies. CD's of non Apple parentage needed a separate extension to actually start up (CD-ROM Tool Kit was one of them). I would second that. With a B & W as opposed to a beige G3, if you go to a G4 upgrade your bus speed will go down from 100 MHz to 66 MHz. I ran a powerlogix for several years on a B&W on OS X 10.3 and it ran really nicely.
