Re: os 9 issue
If you find a way to mount .dmg images in Mac OS 9, please share the details. I looked long and hard for a way to mount .dmg images in OS 9 and came up with nothing.

Re: Microsoft's Reality Distortion Field
Sadly, this impression is enough for the average buyer. They ask about price, does it come with software (meaning Microsoft Office), and how big is the hard drive. These people are typical shoppers, not computer experts with in-depth knowledge of file systems and processor types. They want a comput...

What did you do? Did you just let them fight during the day?

Re: Introducing New Cat, lots of Fights...
So how are the cats getting along? It's been a while and I, for one, have been looking forward to an update on the situation.
I hope you don't think I'm overstepping my bounds by asking.

Re: Disposal of Imagewriters
I would just like to reiterate Dan's suggestion. I would look for places that try to place old technology back to use in the community first. I know that I may come across as something of a hypocrite for stating this, particularly in consideration of the fact that I have been more than willing to se...

Re: Introducing New Cat, lots of Fights...
I don't know anything about cats, so take my advice with a very large grain of salt. I would guess that your young male cat is challenging the other cat in order to establish who has dominance. I've watched enough nature shows to realize that this is fairly normal. Although it's usually a young male...

Re: Introducing New Cat, lots of Fights...
Does the old cat fight back? If not, I would just let them fight until the young buck asserts that he is the dominant cat in the house. Once they establish who is king, there should be peace. Of course, I know absolutely nothing about cats. But I do think that cats are very territorial. So I would g...

Free Speech
I've been giving some thought to the limits of free speech over the last couple of days. Mostly because it looks very likely that I'm going to be heading to court to defend my rights to free speech, among other things. An email that I received recently about a U.S. Courts decision to uphold a convic...

I don't recall the 12" Apple monitors being capable of displaying a resolution of 640 x 480. I had an Apple 12" monitor with my old LC and it was fixed at a 512 x 384 resolution. Don't know the model number of the old 12" monitor that I had; I trashed it long ago. I believe it was Apple's 13" and 14...

Hotline Server
I've decided that my old Quadra 700 is just too slow for any practical and productive use, so I've decided that I will let it live out its final days as a Hotline Server. My Hotline Server is tentatively scheduled to go online on March 1, 2008. To help control bandwidth usage and costs, you will nee...

Re: The Super Duper American Presidential Election Thread
I don't have a preference being that I'm not an American. Although some might argue that being Canadian and living on the Canadian/U.S. border might instill an interest in American politics -- particularly the politics of those vying for the most powerful position in the free world -- in me, I prefe...

Beige G3 Lives On!
I haven't been using Mac OS a whole lot over the last few months, but I've been using this old beige G3 quite a bit over the last couple of weeks. With a decent sized hard drive (40 GB), a fair amount of RAM (384 MB), a monitor that displays more than 832x624 (1152x870), and Mac OS 8.6, this is quit...

Nice! Although I do have one question. Shouldn't the reflection of the car be more or less a mirror image of the car? I see a couple of cars with some fancy paintjobs but the reflection shows a plain white car. I'm no Photoshop expert by any means, but you might want to cut the reflection from your ...
