Re: Best Windows on Mac Options
These days I think it's best to just avoid virtualization all together from an end-user standpoint. It only makes sense these days in a development environment, using something like Vagrant. The most common app I hear requested that has no Mac version is Visio. I use OmniGraffle instead whenever I n...

Seems its been 10 years sine I responded to this list so…
Mac Mini (Late 2014) 2.8ghz
PowerBook G3 Pismo
Power Mac G4 Tower
iPhone X
Not as much as I used to, probably still have a couple in storage somewhere!

Re: Hey Hey! Is this a Typical Macintosh SE M5011? Need Someone More Experienced Than I, Please!! :)
The signatures were present in some form through all the original classic Macs until the early 90s, although fewer and fewer as time went on and more features were added/changed. A completely working SE with an internal hard drive and software already loaded should still fetch a good price on eBay. ...

If you're experiencing unusual popups I would suggest first scanning your Mac for any malware or adware using Malwarebytes

Re: Best Windows on Mac Options
That's a good point about VirtualBox, which I find to be nice for free software but can be buggy and not very user-friendly. For what it's worth Apple is now warning Catalina users that kernel extensions will soon be disabled in the next version of macOS (this is the same message they gave 32bit app...

I haven't heard any widespread reports of GarageBand issues on iOS. Are you working with a very large project imported from your desktop?

Re: Do I Need an Original Monitor For a Mac II?
I can tell you from memory those converters to use standard PC monitors are a nightmare to get working correctly. You'll save yourself a lot of grief by just finding a compatible Apple monitor from that era. I suggest first figuring out which video card is installed. There is the lower-end Macintosh...

Re: PowerBook 170 SoundApp Error-11
It’s possible that SoundApp simply relies on QuickTime (as most multimedia apps of that era do) and updating the extensions is what fixed it.

Re: PowerBook 170 SoundApp Error-11
I would first try narrowing down whether it's a heat/hardware issue, or a bug with SoundApp. I suggest opening one of these sound files in QuickTime player, setting it to loop, and let it run for a long time — long enough that you know would cause SoundApp to crash. If it keeps running fine, then yo...

Hey Dirk,
Just curious why such a specific request? What about 6.5 do you need that isn't in previous or later versions?

Re: location of preferences in shell filesystem - esp voiceover
Well for starters, it's not /Library (root folder) but rather ~/Library (your user folder)
So from terminal, type cd ~/Library/Preferences and in there you'll find com.apple.Accessibility.plist — is this not what you're looking for?

Re: Dual boot Mac OS 9
Just to be clear, there is no such thing as a PowerPC MacBook. These would be PowerBooks. After re-reading the OP's post several times, it sounds like he's saying he installed 9.2.1 or 9.2.2, but specifically needs 9.2(.0) for some reason. I'm not sure this is going to be possible, but you can downl...

Re: Dual boot Mac OS 9
It is not possible to dual boot any MacBook with Mac OS 9, this is only possible on earlier PowerBooks with PowerPC chips. Are you by chance using a PowerBook as opposed to a MacBook?

Re: mac pro to power 6 display long video?
ArraySync would do it, but it's a 32-bit app and will not run on macOS Catalina. I am working on a new 64-bit update, however I can only work on it in my spare time. I hope to have that out as soon as possible. I will be posting updates here and also on social media once we have the new version read...

Re: problems not working keyboard and mouse
There’s nothing in Mac OS that would cause that, so you’ve got a hardware problem going on somewhere. I’d suggest trying a different keyboard and mouse.

Re: problems not working keyboard and mouse
That's very unusual. Are these Apple brand keyboard and mouse, or a third party? When you say restarting gets it working again, do you mean you restart the keyboard and mouse or the computer?
