Re: Macintosh Portable - battery pack restoration

I wonder if it is possible to somehow replace the hard drive with one of the newer SD memory cards? I remember seeing a posting on the web about doing this to some other retro mac... People have done it to powerbooks, I would assume that if you can find the correct adapter you should be able do it ...

Re: iBook G4 - No Translucent Menu Bar in Leopard?

If I remember what I heard from everyone who installed it when it first came out right, Leopard gets rid of some of the eye-candy when it would slow down the system too much, yours is probably lower specs than the translucent menubar shows up on.

Re: What does everybody think about the macbook air?

I made similar predictions about the iPod. "Who would ever pay that much for a music player?" I said. Goes to show what I know. A lot of what people are saying aout it sounds similar to what they said about the iPod. I think it is too much of a nich product to be as successful as the iPod but I thi...

What does everybody think about the macbook air?

Personally I love almost everything about it, but there are two things that I don't. The first and main thing is why did Apple have to make it with only a glossy screen? I wont buy any computer with a glossy display so that rules it out as a 12" powerbook replacement for me. The only other thing tha...

Re: MacBook Air External DVD on Other Macs?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, but I would wait until someone gets one with their notebook and tries it on their mac before buying.

Is it a 12" and did this just happen suddenly? if it did then check here https://support.apple.com/ibook_powerbo ... yexchange/ and see if your battery is covered, if not I haven't looked, but my guess is a new battery will be around $100.

Re: The Super Duper American Presidential Election Thread

I think it's just that some of us don't consider the Constitution quite so holy as Ron Paul does. That's why we have amendments. While it makes for an excellent guiding light, I don't think it's reasonable or wise to take a strictly literal interpretation of it at any cost, especially since it's ov...

Re: MAC OS X DOES NOT START

Since you said it is an iMac G5 it could be the powersupply which Apple has an extended care program even if your origional warranty is used up, check on Apple's support site to see if your is still covered.

I know you can create a wireless network from your computer in OS X without a router, but I'm not sure about OS 9

Re: The Super Duper American Presidential Election Thread

Of the ones that were listed I prefer Obama, but I think out of everyone running I like Ron Paul the best even though he doesn't have much of a real chance.

I think any floppy will work, you may have to reformat it though.

I'll try to post pictures later, but for now I'll just say what I have. I drive a 1999 Volvo S80, and I am also in the process of restoring a 1964 Falcon that will be my more fun car to drive once it is done.

I just checked with the shipping calculator at the bottom, and it would be about $37 to ship it to me, which still by itself is probably more than the machine is worth.

Replace optical drive with HDD in Powerbook?

I've got a 12" powerbook with a dead optical drive, and I don't use it enough to be worth putting in a new optical drive. However, since I plan to upgrade it to Leopard it would be nice to have a second internal drive for time machine, so is it possible to put a hard drive in where the optical drive...

The G3 iMacs are great if they do what you need, I just use mine mostly for internet radio, but if someone wants to just do basic stuff, and not anything with video they are still quite capable machines on Tiger.
