Re: Why is Dreamweaver so slow!

Yes it's UB. Dreamweaver has the strange tendency to just randomly go extremely slow, even if I'm just using it as an HTML editor.

The Radeon 7500 in that auction is most certainly a flashed PC card.

RetroMacCast Interview

I was interviewed by RetroMacCast to talk about Info-Mac in this week's episode. Please excuse the poor audio quality, which is entirely thanks to Bradley University and their incredibly inadequate internet service on campus. Subscribe to the RetroMacCast at their web site and listen to episode #51,...

Can you find us the item number? It would be your My eBay page under Items I've Won.

Re: do all g5 have liquid cooling?

Most G5s do not have liquid cooling:

"The Power Macintosh G5/2.5 DP (PCI-X), Power Macintosh G5/2.7 DP (PCI-X), and Power Macintosh G5 "Quad Core" (2.5) all have a liquid cooling system."

Quoted from here.

Why would it give you these crazy errors when normally video cards are just plug and play?

Is this a flashed PC card?

Re: Finally Upgraded to Leopard

I went the Upgrade route, which I was hesitant about, as I usually do an Erase and Install after backing up all my files (which I have 140 GB worth). Went off without a hitch.

Finally Upgraded to Leopard

I'm a bit behind the times compared to many of my counterparts, so I'll save what has already been said. Leopard mostly impresses... except for Stacks, which is rumored to be fixed with 10.5.2. One thing that did impress me that I did not notice anybody else really mention was the incredibly short i...

Re: MacBook Pro Battery Expansion

Well I took it to the Oakbrook Apple Store. They didn't even want to verify whether or not I was under AppleCare, they simply took it and gave me a new battery right at the store. What great service! Never even looked at the MacBook!

I like how the well is clearly labeled "well" in that sign... just in case you weren't sure.

Re: will a digital audio cpu work in a cube?

I doubt it as the tower CPUs were very large compared to the Cube CPUs - hence all the Cube-specific processor upgrades. They need a very slim heatsink profile. I'm not sure if the pinout is different, but a regular tower CPU wouldn't physically fit inside a Cube.

Re: Mini Wont Accept Disks

Sounds like drive failure, although there may be a way to reset the drive mechanism or eject anything that might be in there. You can try launching the Terminal, and typing drutil tray eject and pressing return. That will force the drive to eject even if there isn't a disk in there, which may reset ...

Re: Installing Windows Vista on Q

I don't like the idea of running Windows natively on my Mac. I've heard about people messing up partitions and corrupting their installations of Mac OS X. I've had experience with Parallels on other people's Macs, and it seemed just fine. I figured I'd download the free Q for myself and try it but i...

Size Limits of External Enclosures?

I have this FireWire 400 external enclosure from Lacie that currently has an 80 GB hard drive in it. I am considering upgrading the ATA drive it contains, but am curious as to what, if any, limitations to drive size may exist in such a drive? How might one find out? Strangely, it doesn't have any mo...

Re: Best Windows on Mac Options

I actually would vote for Parallels first, simply because Parallels forms a "protective barrier" between the virtualized PC environment and the rest of your Mac. I've heard a lot of stories of people messing up the Boot Camp process, losing their Mac partitions, being unable to remove Wind...

MacBook Pro Battery Expansion

The battery in my MacBook Pro began expanding this week and is also no longer recognized by the computer - nor can it physically sit in the bay any longer. It is a first generation Core Duo (not 2 Duo) from like when the Intels first came out. I had checked the battery recall but mine isn't listed a...

Re: iMac Screen Dimness

I've heard of this before and I think I recall a permission repair did the trick. You can also try creating a new user account, logging in, and see if the same symptoms occur. This way you can pinpoint it as a problem specific to your account (and settings, or possible corruption thereof) or a globa...
