Re: Forwarding email photos

If you're forwarding an email you received that had attachments, you should be presented the choice of including or not including them after you tap the forward button.

Re: MobileMe

Well, technically you can achieve to some extent pretty much everything MobileMe does. The value is the fluid, integrated way that MobileMe services work together and work with your Mac. So yes, it's worth it but only if you plan to use everything it offers. If, on the other hand, you only want a pe...

Re: Alternatives Mac-wmrecorder??

I can't really be sure as I've never used wmrecorder? But you can find lots and lots of software for Mac at VersionTracker, MacUpdate, and CNET.

Searching those sites, I do see a lot of streaming audio recorders but not any video recorders per-se.

Re: Email

Well, I don't have that option. I'm always on different computers, so I need webmail. I think he meant, using webmail over iPhone's built-in mail application. I think most people would agree webmail sites tend to be clumsy and difficult to use on iPhone Safari. Of course, if you're constantly movin...

Sorry for responding to an old post, but since iLife '09 came out, I see that uploading via FTP is now a feature of iWeb.

Re: Diagnose CD burner problem?

Sounds like it's burning the initial index onto the CD but the burn is failing for whatever reason. I doubt it's a software issue, probably an issue with your burner. But you can try repairing permissions (Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility -> Repair Permissions) and restarting and see if tha...

Microsoft shooting itself in the foot?

Does the latest Microsoft Ad featuring Lauren win any worthwhile points with the buying public (i.e. people who are considering Macs)? Or is Microsoft just shooting itself in the foot as much of the industry press is saying? Seeing as how Microsoft has such an enormous market share compared to Apple...

Re: Change name of computer?

You really aught to do the things mentioned above by Turboladdade . What you're looking at is the name of the account folder of the previous owner, which probably contains personal files, settings, music, videos, applications and other stuff you don't need or want. The best way is to create a new ad...

These sort of DVI to video adapters like the Apple one only produce SD quality video. It won't be HD quality, if that's what you meant?

MDD G4 wont read burned DVD?

A MDD G4 tower I'm working with that has a SuperDrive is reading Burned DVDs very unreliably or not at all. I find this odd given it's a SuperDrive, you'd think it be able to read them. Sometimes it spits them out, sometimes it appears to read them but then complains about corrupt files and stuff. W...

Re: Mac Mini as web server?

Depending on your serving needs, you'll probably be just fine with an inexpensive used Mac. The only real upgrades you'd probably want to perform is replacing hte hard drives, and maybe tossing in a SATA controller if it is an older G4 tower or something. If you look at some of the specs of some com...

Re: G-3 Firewire 2000-2002 powerbook

I wanted to add that with one of those expensive G4 upgrades, most people are reporting success getting Leopard to boot without any modifications of any sort! Simply put the PowerBook into FireWire Target Disk Mode while connected to another, Leopard-supported Mac and install Leopard onto it as if i...

This topic is a little old but now we have a really great option IMHO, and that is Sun VirtualBox. It is free, and works very well. It even supports OpenGL hardware acceleration.

My vote is VirtualBox all the way!

Re: Is it safe to do OnyX tweaks?

I beg to differ here. OnyX can potentially cause serious harm to your computer, especially in the hands of someone who isn't fully versed in what it is doing. I'd suggest not messing around with OnyX unless you're sure of what it does and that you need it.

Re: Shutdown, System Sleep, or Display Sleep?

I put my entire system to sleep, to give fans and drives a rest after a long day, and to save on energy costs. I don't really have any need to leave my Mac running all night.
