Re: Replace optical drive with HDD in Powerbook?

I don't see a problem from a software standpoint. As for actually mounting a hard drive in place of the optical drive, there you may run into problems. It may not fit in the same space without major modification. I have not opened my 12" PowerBook to verify this, but I wish you luck if you attempt t...

Re: Post your Uniquely Special Photos

My family visited the Jamestown colony this summer. I thought this pic of my 2 youngest peering down a well was cute.

Re: radeon 9200 card removal

Will it boot normally if you type mac-boot and press enter? Have you tried the pram reset again successfully? If this is required every time, perhaps the battery is dead or dying. Other ideas: 1. Re: radeon 9200 card removal

Your welcome! Glad to know a simple pram reset cured it.

I guess I have a temperamental G4 tower (agp graphics). Any hardware changes require me to hit the cuda button. Recently removed a hard disk. Reset required. Installed 802.11g card, another reset. I've gotten used to pushing that sucker.

Nice to have this back online!

As the subject line states, I'm glad to have this archive of old software back in an updated and hopefully long-lived format.

No telling how long the MIT mirror would be available!

Re: mac cube upgrade

Not many CPU upgrades for the cube. Try http://www.sonnettech.com. They have a couple. As posted earlier for memory, Other World Computing carries Sonnet and Powerlogix upgrades.

If you wanna go fast, you'll need some deep pockets.

Re: radeon 9200 card removal

First thing to try when installing/removing hardware is a PRAM reset. When booting, hold down the command-option-p-r keys until a second (or third or fourth, can't hurt) boot chime is heard. You can also reset the NVRAM by holding down the command-option-o-f keys. A white text on black screen will a...
