Word and PP appear automatically after switching on iMac

Hello,
Since I upgraded my iMac to OSX 10.9.1, Word and PP appear every time I log on. Not a major issue, but quite irritating nonetheless. Any suggestion how I can change this?

Check your login items under accounts in System Preferences and look for something different that might be causing this. If you don't find anything there look in the Library folders in the root directory, System folder and your home folder for the StartupItems folder(s). Peruse them for possible culprits.
Mavericks is pretty buggy so I wouldn't put this weirdness past it.
