Shutdown, System Sleep, or Display Sleep?

When the day draws to a close, which option do you prefer? Do you fully shutdown your computer? Or do you put your system to sleep? Or do you only shut down your displays? Or do you do nothing and just let a screensaver run all night?

Me, my system never sleeps or shuts down, and only the displays are set to go to sleep.

I put my entire system to sleep, to give fans and drives a rest after a long day, and to save on energy costs. I don't really have any need to leave my Mac running all night.

I try to save as much battery when not with my power adapter, so I normally have sleep on.

I've set my system to automatically shut-down at about 0200. I found I was falling asleep in bed with my MacBook on my bedside table still turned on far too often. Plus I've found my mac gets incredibly sluggish after a few days left on.

Really? I think that is rather uncommon and you might have some kind of situation going on there. I know all of my Macs, and all of my roommate's Macs are left on all day every day and are usually only shut down for Software Update or something like that. Never would describe them as getting sluggish after only a few days.
