CPBP (Cliff's Permanent Backup Program) is a backup utility for MacOS. It permanently archives selected folders and files, does incremental and interrupted backups, backs up remote volumes, and restores selected folders and files.
This is version 1.0, the initial release, built October 25, 2001. It includes a users' manual for the program.
Requirements: 68K or PPC Macintosh, MacOS 7.5 or later, 2 MB disk space for installation, 3 MB RAM to run.

Not sure exactly what is happening but there may be useful
information in memguide.pdf, which you can download from Apple.

It gives RAM configurations for just about all Mac computers,
printers, and video. It hasn't been updated since November 2000 but
it certainly has 5400 info.

The problem with the companies that make DVD's is that they put this widget
in the player that enforces these "regions". There's a counter in there
that breaks the drive if you reset the region bit too many times.
Take a look at the utilities at http://web.tiscali.it/thinkdifferent/ to
get an idea of some of the utilities available. YMMV and I have no idea of
what legalities or warranty invalidations result, as I haven't tried it
myself.

Greetings,
My iMac 400 DV 10GB Maxtor drive is nearly full and, more to the
point, the source of an annoying electro-metallic mosquito-like whine
that is drilling holes in my tympanic membranes.
I have my eye on a 40GB IBM drive that is cheap and has gotten rave
reviews from purchasers for its speed and lack of sound...but many
report that it is a heat producing drive.
Has anyone tried something similar and does anyone have a feel for
heat issues in the fanless iMac?

Subject: Netacape 6->(Netscape 4, Outlook Express)
Hi.
I recently "upgraded" from Netscape 4.78 to Netscape 6.2. I'm not
extremely happy with the latter. I would like to go back to Netscape 4.78.
Is there some tool that would allow me to translate Netscape 6 user
profiles to Netscape 4 user profiles?
I would also like to give Outlook Express a try. However, OE doesn't
seem to import Netscape 6.x accounts. Is there some tool that will help
me do this? Of course, if the Netscape 6->Netscape 4 transition can be
done, this point is moot.

Check to make sure that the AppleTalk Control Panel is set to Ethernet.
My PowerBook Wallstreet has a tendency to reset itself so that AppleTalk
communicates over the modem port.

Subject: Scanner w/ Slide Capability
I'm thinking of getting a scanner capable of copying 35mm color slides. It will
be connected to my 233 MHz Powerbook G3 (non bronze) under OS 9.1. I realize I
probably will have to get a USB adapter to go in my PCMCIA card slot. I'm
interested in hearing comments and recommendations on both products, i.e., what
scanner(s) and what adapter(s) should I consider? I'd also like to hear how
successful slide scanning is. What sort of resolution should be used for best
results? Anything else I should know?
