Snak is a program that will let you participate in discussions in
Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channels. IRC channels are virtual meeting
rooms on the Internet, where people all over the world can have
real-time conversations.
IRC consists of many different networks, often with thousands of
channels, each focused on a location or subject, and anything that is
typed into the channel will be seen by the other members. This makes
it possible to have a real-time conversation with people all over the
world.
IRC is different from other chatting systems like AIM and ICQ in that
it is intended for conversation within a whole group of people,
rather than one on one. Additionally IRC fully supports private
conversations between two people.
Some of the most significant features of Snak:
Uniquely flexible interface allows multiple channels in one window.
Support for long file names on OS X.
Two powerful scripting languages - AppleScript and ircII.
Compatibility with many existing scripts written for other clients.
Easy access to MP3 files offered in the MP3 IRC channels.
A channel bar for easy switching between channels.
A consolidated list and information window.
A divided main text with resizable text and nickname areas for better
text display.
Nick completion and support for mouse scroll wheels.
Version 4.8 features an improved window sharing option that stacks
the docked channels in the window instead of tiling them. This new

embedded channel bar shows you when the other channels receive text.
The Nick completion has been improved and now works on the last word
in the line instead of just the first.
DCC transfer speed has been improved in version 4.8 and Snak now
supports long filenames on OS X. DCC resume transfer speed

automatically rename incoming files when duplicates are found.
This version contains many usability improvements, including the
option of requiring the option key for stepping through the message
history, changes to the way Snak uses saved preference files,
automatic detection of lost connections, and an improved and

With Tess, you can quickly create attractive symmetric planar
illustrations. While you draw, Tess will automatically maintain the
symmetry group you have chosen; 11 rosette, all 7 frieze, and all 17
wallpaper groups are included. Illustrations may be saved using Tess1
own cross-platform format or printed out using your own ink-jet or
laser printer. Tess is shareware; unregistered copies are
fully-functional, but are for evaluation purposes only until
registered. Tess has an English and a Korean interface
Recent changes: (changes since 1.04)
* A Korean interface is now available; the translation was performed by
the Mathlove company of Korea.
* Using the preferences, you can now choose the system of notation used
to name symmetry groups: Fejes Toth notation, short crystallographic,
full crystallographic, and orbifold notation are available.
* A fundamental region or a lattice cell for the current symmetry group
can now be shown by selecting either "Show a Fundamental Region" or
"Show a Lattice Cell" in the "View" menu. When a lattice cell is
shown, a thick line will display one axis of the lattice cell so that
primitive and centered cells can be distinguished. These new display
aides can help you understand crystallographic and orbifold notation.
* Guides for mathematical terminology and symmetry group notation have
been added: select "Terminology" or "Symmetry Group Notation" in
the help menu to open a guide.
* The amount of rounding or smoothing applied to the corners of objects
can now be controlled by entering a maximum corner radius. This radius,
specified in pixels or as a percentage of the distance between adjacent
control points, controls the curvature of the circular or elliptical
arcs used.
* "Smooth" and "Sharpen" menu items have been added to the
"Object" menu; selecting these items will increase and decrease the
selected objects' maximum corner radii.
* You can now enable and disable the stroking and filling of already
created objects with the newly available fill and / or stroke buttons in
the tool window.

Subject: Bomb Cursor during startup, OS 9.2.1
Have you ever seen the cursor change to a bomb before?!
My iMac DV SE had been acting erratically; starting from the internal
HD or CD's including Apple's 9.2.1 CD and the DiskWarrior 2.1 CD, it
froze before the INIT crawl. It would not recognize the "C" key on
boot, and often wouldn't start from the CD even with
shift-cmd-opt-delete. The only way I could boot was with extensions
off from the internal HD.
I was able to start from a FireWire external HD, but Disk First Aid,
DiskWarrior 2 and TechTool 2.5.4 froze repeatedly while "fixing" the
disk. I tried resetting PRAM and unplugging the computer (which
caused the clock to reset to 1/1/04 despite a KNOWN good battery).
Frustrated, I tried once more to boot from the internal HD. It again
appeared to freeze before any extensions loaded. I left it alone for
a couple of minutes, and when I returned, the pointer had turned to a
bomb (ball with a lit fuse). Frustrated, I left the computer for
about 10 minutes; on my return, the computer was beginning the INIT
crawl--still with the bomb pointer! It then continued and booted,
apparently normally (good enough for me to get this e-mail out
anyway).
Can anyone suggest what's going on here? All this has been since the
ROM update (4.1.7 or .8 I think). Anyone have similar experiences,

Hi,
I was at the info-mac.org site and found your note in regard to Mac's
Hypercard application.
By any chance you would be able to help me? Here is what I'm hoping to have
accomplished.
I have some data or records stored in an old Macintosh SE using Hypercard
version 1.2.1, and
would like to export them into a Microsoft database (i.e. Access). I'm sure
this could be done but
being that I'm a novice MAC user, it may take years and years, hee!
Maybe there is a software out there i can purchase to export these Hypercard
data and convert
into some PC applications. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I guess you have checked the View menu to ensure that you have not hidden
'Read' messages?
Command-Y: "Show Unread messages only" will therefore hide any that you have
read
