Hundreds of tips, short macros and Applescripts for every aspect of
WordPerfect. This latest revision, the first in over a year, has a lot of
new material.

Unsolicited comments from users include: "John! You the man! . . . You're
the best . . . It's great . . . a huge resource . . . Thanks John! . . . I
downloaded the above file earlier tonight and have spent a thoroughly
engrossing several hours going through it and learning a lot more about
WordPerfect, so I'd like to join the undoubted long list of people thanking
you for it along with all [your] other macro files . . . I'd urge everyone
with questions about WP 3.5 to take a look at John Rethorst's "John's WP
Tips & Macros" . . . Much appreciated!"

Free.

Subject: [*] Planet 8.1

PLANET 8.1 is an application in which your Macintosh computes the
coordinates of the planets visible to the naked eye (Mercury, Venus, Mars,
Jupiter and Saturn), the sun and the moon. The coordinates are given in
different coordinate systems: the geocentric ecliptic and also the
equatorial and horizontal systems of the observer. Further you will see
the magnitude of the planets and the phase of the moon and also sidereal
time, mean solar time and the equation of time.
When a solar or lunar eclipse is possible you can also investigate the
eclipse from any place on earth. You can study heliacal risings and
settings of planets and stars and also conjunctions, planetary stations and
occultations. A special option in the program allows you to check the
visibility of the new and old moon crescent. Finally you can study the
transits of Mercury and Venus.

Included with PLANET is a small helper application, Mini Star Catalog,
containing a list of 410 bright and important stars. It is possible to
choose any star from the catalog and transfer it (one at a time) to PLANET
by drag and drop. Once the star is inside PLANET it will displayed by
coordinates updated for current precession and proper motion. Also it is
possible to study the heliacal rise and set of the star.

The program is freeware.

Subject: [*] Style Master 2.1

Style Master 2.1 is not just a beefed up text editor. It's built from the
ground up as a specialized style sheets IDE (integrated development
environment). Style Master is as well suited to web developers with
little or no exposure to style sheets, as to style sheets experts.

For those starting out with style sheets, Style Master comes with

* an intuitive interface for editing every aspect of a style sheet, from
the most basic properties to the most complex @rules, with point and
click simplicity. No syntax or tricky keywords to learn or remember!
* integrated custom info on every aspect of CSS, just a click away
* complete, detailed browser compatibility info for all major CSS
supporting browsers, including Netscape 6, Opera 5, and Internet Explorer
6 for Windows
* comprehensive style sheets documentation

For the established style sheets developer, Style Master is a complete
development environment for working with style sheets. Its editors for
statements, @rules and properties aren't toys, but productivity
enhancers, ensuring correct syntax, eliminating typos, and helping
develop and deploy style sheets more quickly and correctly. Built in
browser compatibility info ensures you avoid the frustrations of making
your style sheets work across all browsers.

New features in this version include

significantly improved time for opening style sheets
improvements to creating style sheets based on HTML documents
the usual bugs fixes and enhancements

This download is a fully featured 30 day demo.

Style master require a PowerMac running MacOS 8 or higher (runs in
classic on MacOS X) and a minimum of 4MB of RAM for the application.

Style Master costs for US$29.00, or $49.00 for the Pro version. Upgrades
from Style Master 1.x cost $19.99 Free upgrade from 2.0

Internet grocers may be fighting an uphill battle, but for Alex
Hoffman, Netflix proves that an Internet business can best the
near-ubiquitous video store. Derek Miller joins us to compare two
Palm word processors, WordSmith and Word To Go. Mac OS X-only
releases continue apace, with iDVD 2, Snapz Pro X 1.0.1, and
Timbuktu Pro 6.0.1. Other important releases include iTunes 2,
Netscape 6.2, and GraphicConverter 4.1, which support both
operating systems.

Strangestein 3D

This third encounter level for wolfenstein 3d was done using wolfedit
2.0.4, Stratavision 3d and Photoshop 5.5 . I have change most of the
characters, walls and objects. The characters were kept simple because
they loose a lot of definition when the image is reduced but i think the
results are still interesting.
Check it out and let me know what you think

Subject: Farallon installer needed

I am looking for an installer for an older Farallon PC Card Modem/ethernet
adapter. I got the card REAL cheap but it has no installer disk. The front
of the card says "Farallon LAN/Modem PC Card". It is a v.34 33.6 modem and a
10t Ethernet card. The barcode # is 000C5550610. Does anybody have the
installer file? Farallon's successor website doesn't have drivers for older
models.

TIA

John

Subject: MacSOHO

I have a G3 and just bought a Toshiba portable to be able to work with my
clients. Also bought a HP2000DN with the Ethernet option included. To
transfer files between the Mac and the PC, MacSoho is pretty simple to
setup. I have a HUB and this is it. Both machines share the same internet
high speed connection to a telephone line and I can work on both at the same
time. The speed is good.

The beauty of MacSoho is that I can still use my high-speed ethernet line
without rebooting all the time.

Tried Timbuktu, but you cannot use it and the high-speed ethernet modem at
the same time.

The problem is the TCP/IP settings which is needed for both the modem and
Timbuktu.

Tried DAVE which is made by the same company which produces MacSoho (Thurby
Software), but it was difficult to setup.

Also, with MacSoho you do not alter the PC or almost none except adding a
new protocol for the ethernet card.

The price is only 50$ download and you can try before you buy for 30 days.
