Has anyone tried to run one of the Unix flavors of ArcInfo 8.0.1? Or
have you tried ArcView using Virtual PC?

Subject: [*] FileBuddy 6.1.1J - Japanese Version

This is the Japanese version of the FileBuddy package.

*A Carbon compliant release of File Buddy is currently under
development. The first Carbon release of File Buddy will be File Buddy
v6.2.

File Buddy is quite simply the most powerful and popular high-level file
utility available for your Macintosh.

File Buddy 6 requires a PowerPC-based Macintosh with System 7.6 or
later. File Buddy 5 is available for 68K Macintoshes.

*View and edit a wide range of file and folder information in the info
window.
*Create droplet applications that automatically apply changes to items
dropped on them, including the contents of folders.
*Find files and folders using an extensive set of search criteria.
Enhance file searches with plug-ins that extend file search capabilities.
Conveniently perform a wide variety of actions on found items. Make File
Buddy your default file finding application using the File Buddy CP
control panel.
*Modify the names of multiple files at once. For example, remove ".txt"
from the names of a group of files.
*Much, much more...

Changes & Fixes in this version:

*In the Find window, the options 'File is not an alias' and 'File is not
stationery' no longer keep the search from reporting folders.
*Some submenu selections were being ignored because of early code
changes for the Carbon release. Fixed.

SigQuote is a Hypercard stack that makes it easy to append a signature
(a 'sig') to your email messages. The feature that makes SigQuote unique
is that your sig can contain a different quote each time you use it. You
can use a random quote from the list, or you can select a specific
quote. With one mouse click, your sig is put on the clipboard for
pasting into an email message. Run SigQuote in the background when you
are composing email messages and have your sig available instantly!
Design your own sig, edit your own list of quotes.

VCD Player 1.5.1
(c) Copyright 1997-2001 Johnny CN Lee, All Rights Reserved.
info@johnnylee.com
http://www.johnnylee.com/

VCD Player simplifies the process of playing video compact discs on your
Mac. With most other players, you only get video in a tiny area of your
screen, or in an area surrounded by a huge border of some sort. VCD Player
smoothes the video playback process and allows you to watch full-screen
movies in the MPEG format, without any headache-inducing distortion to make
the movie unwatchable. There are various configurable options that control
sound and playback, and just as with a sound-only CD player, you can control
which track to start watching. VCD Player can remember where you stopped
playing the movie after you quit the program, restarted your Mac, or even
changed to another disc then changed back.

System Requirements
- Power PC
- QuickTime 2.5 or later
- QuickTime MPEG Extension 1.0 or later

What's new?
- Added Help Screen.

You can do this in Eudora by under Settings/Checking Mail, check Skip
messages over xxx K and fill in your favorite xxx. You get the
message including an embedded chunk of the attachment up to your set
number, but the message is still on the server for full download.
The question will be how to delete the message from the server if you
decide you don't want it.

Good luck,

permanently. Any suggestions?

Subject: Graphics Question

I need to plot some 3D data and am looking for an app (hopefully mac
based but unix or another platform is OK too). The data is three
dimensional (a wavefunction actually) and I would like to plot this in
as an aesthetically pleasing a manner as possible. I am aware of
programs such as, for example, mathematica, but they really aren't of
the graphics quality need here. Perhaps some ray tracing application?
Is there source code out there for opengl that I could compile or is
there something I could buy? Thanks for any help.

PRAM batts are a strange lot! I bought my Apple IIgs in 1986. Its 3.6v
lithium batt died in 20 months. I was newbie; took to my dealer; he had no
replacement. So he opened new IIgs from his inventory, unsoldered batt from
motherboard and soldered it to my motherboard. Charged $13! I've been
running my IIgs for 13 years now with that repl batt! I then bought a
"Nite-Owl" repl batt (no soldering req'd) for future replacement. It's
been stored in my refrig for 11 years now.

I still do ALL the work I consider really important on my IIgs.

Bought Performa-6205CD in 1996. Its batt died in 2 years. Could not find
replacement (4.5v alkaline, cube) locally. So I assembled pack from three
"AAA" cells. I cut batt lead with terminal from cube, and soldered to my
do-it-urself pack. Even glued velcro patch from dead cube onto my pack.
Works fine.

My newest ... iMacDV-SE is now 11 months old. I'm waiting for its batt to
die ... tomorrow?? ... 15 years hence??)

I cut power to ALL my computers each night ... or after each session.
Two reasons:
1) I worry about lightning and power surges/outages (even tho I have UPS)
2) I put dust cover over each computer. It would trap heat.

Subject: Serious Printing Problem with Virtual PC

Nick -- I have experienced the same problems printing to a PostScript
printer, not only with the latest version of Virtual-PC, but also
with *all* the previous versions.

I was able to get around it most of the time by using the "Epson LQ"
printer which was preinstalled in VPC as my Windows "default
printer", even though the output actually ended up printing on my HP
LaserJet PostScript printer! Of course, this means you lose the
special features of PostScript printing.... ;-(

My final solution to all the printing problems with VPC was to print
to a USB-connected printer.
