Can Disk Warrior / Norton / Rewind be used together, running on the same disk?
I seem to remember being told not to use Disk Warrior and Norton
together (it would be like 'crossing the streams') since they use
approaches that are odds with one another.
I imagine that the answers for System 9 and OS X would vary (I
currently have System 9 on one partition and OS X on the other).

Subject: Flat battery & PRAM?
Hi Folks,
I was helping a friend with his iMac (sys 8.1 ) that was doing weird things.
The date and time settings kept being lost, so I assumed he needed a new
battery. But because other strange things were also happening, I tried a
few housekeeping basics, like
* switch off all but the basic Sys8 extensions
* rebuild the desktop (that went OK)
* zap the PRAM (that elicited a bomb and an error message, to wit "system
error "Finder" & bus error)
* run TechTool lite on the system files. This cleared Finder, but reported
a problem with the system file
Meanwhile, the Mac was having trouble finding the startup disk when it was
switched on. Also, some graphics were displaying with white bands across
them.
So I decided to do a clean install from the Sys8.1 CD-ROM.
Only trouble was, although the CD-ROM mounted OK when inserted, the iMac
could not find it when I attempted to use it to start up. I held down the C
key during startup, but still got the flashing ? ? ?, and eventually a boot
from the hard drive. Even when I opened the STARTUP DISK control panel and
selected the CD, the iMac still eventually booted from the hard drive.
Then I thought, "Well, if I am attempting a CLEAN install, perhaps I can do
it even if I have booted from the hard drive."
So I tried it, and it seemed to install OK.
But now I cannot boot at all, either from a CD or from the hard disk.
Could these problems be related to the flat battery?
Have I done something stupid?

the preview pane in OSX Mail.app? I just want to see the mail titles, not

Subject: No Print Problem w/OSX
I have a B&W G3 which works fine with our Epson 900 printer in OS9, but
can't see the printer in OSX. I get an error message every time I try to
print in OSX. On the other hand, two iBooks in the house have no problem
printing from OSX (other than having to bring the computers to the printer
now that we no longer have USB printer sharing). For a while I could coax
the G3 to print by deleting, and then re-adding, the EPSON printer file each
time I wanted to print. Even that workaround seems to have disappeared
following a reinstallation of OSX.
Any clues or suggestions that anyone may have will be gratefully accepted.
