showed me how to build a terminal application that uses a unix
application called streamripper that you put in the binaries folder.
The article has changed since I fooled with it and now there is a
full aqua gui version :
http://software.bombich.com/streamcatcher.html
I found some obscurity in getting the port information with the
home brew, perhaps the full aqua version makes that more automatic.
I haven't used it because I wanted mainly bossa nova music and that
station died and further I wanted midi I could jam with with a keyboard,
though I've fiddled with jamming with my voice and mp3's.

Subject: [*] Brickles3000 v2.02 [Mac OS9/OSX] (attached)

A Carbonized Brickles3000 v2.02 Release!

Merrimack, New Hampshire, October 11, 2002: Ken Winograd and Space-Time
Associates announced today the release of version 2.02 of an exciting
Macintosh game called Brickles3000.

Brickles3000 is an all-new game based on the 'ball and paddle' game
called Brickles, which was first offered in 1985, shortly after the
introduction of the first Macintosh.

Brickles3000 is not your typical 'ball and paddle' game. Brickles3000
features adjustable colors and patterns, adjustable ball and paddle
sizes, adjustable speed and window sizes. Even the number of paddles in
the game can be changed. Brickles3000 is suitable for everyone from the
very youngest children learning to use a mouse, to fast-paced arcade
fans.

The new Brickles3000, aside from being optimized for the PowerPC, also
features much smoother animation than in days past. A new toolbar allows
for rapid personalized game customizations, making it a snap to adjust
speed, ball and paddle sizes, game colors and window sizes and shapes.

Brickles3000 v2.02 improves the ability of the main Brickles window to
be re-sized.

Brickles3000 requires a PPC Macintosh with a screen resolution of
800x600, or more, and OS X, or OS 9 with CarbonLib 1.6 or greater

Brickles3000 is available now for a free trial. For more information,
to download or securely register the program, please visit the
Brickles3000 web page at:

ffmpegX 0.0.4bv2
Video/audio encoder/decoder for DivX, MPEG-1/2, VCD, SVCD...

(c) Copyright 2002 Major, major4@mac.com
http://homepage.mac.com/major4
Freeware released under GPL license (included with the software).

ffmpegX is a Mac OS X GUI to ffmpeg the "hyper fast video and audio
encoder" (http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net). It can decode MPEG-1, MPEG-2,
MPEG-4 (aka DIVX4/5), VOB, AVI MS-MPEG4 V3 (aka DIVX 3), WAV, Real
Audio, H263(+) (aka RealVideo 1.0), PGM, YUV, PPM, AC3, PCM8/16 bits,
mulaw/Alaw, SUN AU format, MPEG audio layer 2, MPEG audio layer 3,
MJPEG and even more formats. This GUI provides quick encoding to DivX,
MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MP2, MP3 & AC3. MPEG-2 encoding relies on mpeg2enc
component from the mjpegtools package (http://mjpeg.sourceforge.net).
You can convert DVD video to DivX, DivX to VCD or SVCD, and DVD to VCD
or SVCD. Includes a bitrate calculator and a mpeg splitter for multiple
CD burning. When encoding to MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 it can author the video
as VCD or XVCD (.bin/.cue files for burning with Toast by dropping the
.bin into VCD window) or as SVCD or XSVCD (two .img files to be burned
in Toast under Multitrack XA window).

System Requirements
- Mac OS X 10.1.5 or 10.2 (in 10.1.5 you may need to install the 1.8.5
OSX Applescript update from
http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo. ... 315&db=mac)
- To playback DivX, use codecs from www.3ivx.com or www.divx.com

What's new in 0.0.4b?
- added mpeg-2 encoding and SVCD authoring from VOB or MOV files in
alpha version. Works nice with PAL VOB sources. NTSC VOB pulldowned
sources work somewhat but need improvement. The splitter also need
improvement.
- see the Changelog file included with the application for a detailed
list of new features.

This is the Japanese version of the Icon Machine package.

Icon Machine is a Macintosh icon editor designed to take advantage of
the great features of the Mac OS to give you the power to make the icons
you want.

Now updated and redesigned for editing all icon sizes from 16x12 Mini to
Mac OS X's 128x128 Thumbnail, and Carbonized for Mac OS X, Icon Machine
is a great tool for creating icons for applications, customized folders,
eye-catching documents, and everything else.

"The Photoshop of icon editors!"
- Andrew Miller

"Icon Machine has a way of making a little square of 1024 pixels feel
like an expansive painter's canvas."
- Eric Prentice, MacTips

Changes in version 3.0b20 and 3.0b21

- Fixed problems with editing Mini icons
- Fixed using the "Apply Icon To" command on a folder that doesn't
already have a custom icon
- Fixed the displayed selection border after a flip or rotate
- Pasted images now appear in the center of the window
- Fixed crash that sometimes happened while scrolling a window
- Attempted fix for when you try to drag a selection and get a
contextual menu instead
- The scrolling credits use more memory to get the effect right, but
also less in OS X because it doesn't reduntantly double-buffer
- OS X 10.2 fixes/changes:
- scrolling credits no longer smear
- dragging an icon into a window loads all icon sizes
- saving works
- drag images use alpha channels as with previous OS versions (and
this time it's not a hack)
- the text tool uses the font panel instead of a menu
- Improved support for long file names
- Better handling of when a file is moved or renamed while it is open in
Icon Machine
- Fixed handling of Quit events, such as when the machine is being shut
down or restarted
- Fixed the error that happened when changing a folder's icon
- Individual editing windows remember font settings when you switch
tools

'Verbs & Nouns' is an application for practising inflection, translation
and pronunciation at the level of single words. Features include the
opportunity to do various inflection exercises, and translation exercises in
both directions; to record and play sound for single words; to do
exercises based on sound or pictures; and to play various word-games.

The program keeps a record of exercises, and identifies the words that
the student has difficulty with. Along with the program, you need a
module for the target language concerned. The program can also be used
as an authoring tool to write your own modules of inflected words for
any language. A built-in 'inflection-generator' simplifies the addition
of these words. A 'Find' feature allows the modules to be used as
bilingual dictionaries.

Ready-made modules are already available for certain languages. You can

OK, to have both computers able to reach the internet through one
connection, one of them is going to have to act as a router (usually the
one that's directly connected to the broadband pipe).

>a few metres (yards) long, would I have to specify anything essential? And

Category 5 should be sufficient, CAT 5e would be for more persnickety
connections, such as 100 base T ethernet...

Heh. Go to the Sustwork's site and check out their info on using their
product, IPNR.

http://www.sustworks.com/

It would seem they have a good amount of information listed there, so,
no, I don't think that once it's set up you'll have much problem. It's
the setting up that's the 'bugbear'...

Also note that they recommend using two ethernet cards/ports on the
connected Mac to fully realize the benefits of their software.

Hope this helps...

I recently came across 'Net Snippets' a program for the PC that sits
within your internet browser and allows you to collect information
(web pages, parts of web pages), edit it and arrange it.

This type of tool would be invaluable for me.

Is there anything similar available for Mac OS X?

Thanks!
