Video Type for Array Sync

Post by nestamonk » January 11th, 2012, 1:40 pm

There is no where that it talks about the reccomended codec. H264 which is pretty standard doesn't work. Can someone tell me what the best codec to use is?

Define "doesn't" work. Does it not play at all? We do H.264 all day long just fine. The only thing is H.264 is extremely resource-intensive so, if you're driving multiple displays from one machine, you'll want to consider a less resource-intense codec. Try Apple ProRes, Apple Intermediate, Pixlet or an older codec like Sorenson 3, or lowering your resolution.

EDIT: I just tested an HD1080 video on a Mac Pro driving two HD1080 displays. With H.264, playback was unacceptable, however with Apple Intermediate playback was smooth as silk. Might make a video to demonstrate this and post it on YouTube. Hope this helps.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.
