iMac Screen Dimness

Post by helloimjoe » December 5th, 2007, 11:08 pm

Hi! On my white intel imac, the screen dims after a minute or two of not being used, which is annoying when reading or watching a video. When I set the control for that not to happen it still does... Any ideas?

check in system preferences under energy saver, that is the only place that I know of that will control when the screen goes off.

I've heard of this before and I think I recall a permission repair did the trick.

You can also try creating a new user account, logging in, and see if the same symptoms occur. This way you can pinpoint it as a problem specific to your account (and settings, or possible corruption thereof) or a global problem.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

It seems that upgrading to Leopard did the trick, it works fine now... weird that Apple never addressed it with Tiger.

Did it dim while the computer wasn't being used, then a keystroke or mouse movement brighten it back up, or did it just stay dim?

It would brighten back up after moving the mouse, taping the keyboard and such, but I didn't want it to go dim because it was annoying when reading articles and watching youtube videos... but when I turned off the setting to make it do that it still would.
