Size Limits of External Enclosures?

Post by Turboladdade » December 19th, 2007, 11:53 pm

I have this FireWire 400 external enclosure from Lacie that currently has an 80 GB hard drive in it. I am considering upgrading the ATA drive it contains, but am curious as to what, if any, limitations to drive size may exist in such a drive? How might one find out? Strangely, it doesn't have any model number on it or anything. Just says "design by porsche" on the side.

I think it dates from 2004.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

with one from that time it probably can support any ATA drive you can get, at least all of the macs from around then were starting to. The only way that I would know of would be to get a drive larger than 128GB and see if it works, and if it does not then get a new enclosure for it.
