Which iMac for Me?

Post by liquida » October 11th, 2008, 11:24 am

I desperately need a new computer, as this iMac G4 just doesn't cut it for me anymore. I'm looking at new iMacs, and I'm looking to spend as close to $2,000 as possible. Now, the tough choice here is, should I get the 2.66 GHz, 20" system and max out the memory, hard drive, and have some spare money for games? Or should I get the 24" 2.8 GHz model, but only the standard offering as is at the Apple store albeit 4 GB of memory?

Well, one factor you didn't mention is whether or not you actually need more than 320 GB of hard drive space, right now. I would say go with the 24" iMac, because in the future should you feel the need for a larger hard drive, that is pretty simple to either replace, or to add an external one. You can't replace the screen, processor, or graphics controller in the iMac, so best get the good stuff right from the beginning.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.
