MDD G4 wont read burned DVD?

A MDD G4 tower I'm working with that has a SuperDrive is reading Burned DVDs very unreliably or not at all. I find this odd given it's a SuperDrive, you'd think it be able to read them. Sometimes it spits them out, sometimes it appears to read them but then complains about corrupt files and stuff. What is going on here? Am I missing something?
