Specialized switch for link aggregation?

Post by Turboladdade » August 16th, 2010, 3:31 pm

Do you need a specialized switch for link aggregation? Or will any switch work? I can't seem to find the answer to this (maybe because the answer is "no" and is thus not written about). I've never done it before so want to make sure what I need to buy. Thanks in advance!
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

Link aggregation has not been standardized on yet by the IEEE. However most manufactures have methods to handle it. I would think you would not have any problems with any major manufacturer switch. If you need for this to occur across multiple switches it would probably be best to stick with them all being the same manufacturer.
