i cant run as administrator

Post by banana » June 19th, 2011, 7:34 am

I am trying to open a file 'setup.exe' to install it but my right click wont give me the option to 'run as administrator'. My profile is definitely the admin version on my Mac book pro, can anyone help??

Thanks!

Sorry to disappoint you Setup.exe is actually a Windows setup file not a mac file, setup.exe is a executable files for windows to extract files inside or outside of the program to install programs into windows specified folders.
Mac uses .app file extensions and is combined into one file unlike windows is much tidier and cleaner house keeping.
Hope this helps

You cannot install Windows applications on your Mac. Your best bet would be to go with some kind of virtualization solution, such as Parallels, Fusion or VirtualBox (my personal choice) to run a Microsoft Windows environment on your Mac, inside of which you can run your Windows software.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.
