Office for Mac and macros

Post by Aude » February 9th, 2012, 11:58 am

I am fed up because Office 2008 doesn't allow macros. I am thinking of using Office 2004 concurrently, but someone has told me this is not advisable and I am certainly having trouble in 2004 with a large macro I have just imported. Do I have to buy Office 2011?

Any ideas?

Yes, VBA scripting disappeared in Office 2008, then returned for 2011 when everyone complained. There isn't a magic solution to this, aside from learning to use AppleScript or buying 2011, or migrating away from Microsoft Office if your situation allows.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

Thanks, Turboladde. Where is AppleScript?

AppleScript is all over your Mac. It's a system-wide platform for scripting all kinds of apps, including Microsoft Office. For Office 2008 specifically, you might want to start here: http://word.mvps.org/mac/scripts/index.html

Thanks again, Turboladde! Would starting a macros-sharing topic be a good idea?
