getting a flashdrive to show up in devices

I want to transfer items from the hard drive to a flashdrive. But the flashdrive does not show up in the devices listing and I can't then slide the item over. Any suggestions?

Does it not show up on your desktop? If not, go to Finder -> Preferences and make sure "External disks" is checked under the General tab.

I don't know what you mean by "in devices" unless you're referring to the sidebar of a Finder window.

Yes, it is on the desktop itself, but not in either the "devices" on the left or the "places" on the left. And I still can't slide folders to the flashdrive as it doesn't show up. Is there something I could do that apparently I have not yet figured out how to do?

Well, glory be! I went back and re-read your post and rechecked and, walah, it's fixed. Yes, it was so exceedingly simple, but I didn't have a clue as to where to go. So thank you, thank you, thank you!!
