changing iphoto

Post by piepkorg » March 15th, 2012, 5:25 pm

My wife's MacBookPro is 2 1/2 years old. The screen-saver is set to all photos in iphoto. The problem is that when a photo comes up on the screen during saver mode, it is programmed to zero in on only one face of several or many in a particular photo. How can I change it to bring up the whole photo every time?

If you're talking about your Mac's Screen Saver preferences (rather than iPhoto slideshow) then just click options and you'll see this window:
Screen Shot 2012-03-15 at 6.34.03 PM.png
Uncheck "Crop slides to fill screen" and you'll the entire picture to show up. It does that because your photos are usually completely different aspect ratios than your display, so zooming in on portions removes the black bars.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

Upon unchecking that box, some photos do now have black on the sides. But the screen-saver still cuts out large parts of the original photo. Have no idea what else I might do? Is this older version of Mac unchangeable?

Which release of OS X are you running on what model of Mac Book Pro? May be able to test behavior.

Try also unchecking "zoom back and forth"

Thanks for the suggestions. That box was already unchecked. Just the two top ones are now checked -- Random order and cross fade

Sorry. The problem is not with facebook. It is with the screensaver where instead of it pulling up the whole picture as it cycles through randomly, it displays only one face of a larger picture. I prefer the whole picture on the screensaver display.

Still no resolution to this -- screensaver zooming in way too far and showing only one face of many in a pic. Is is just that the older versions of Mac cannot be changed?

If I uncheck all of those boxes I just get stationary pictures centered on my screen, not zoomed in at all. So I don't know really what's going on with your system but its either a glitch, you're doing something wrong, or you're talking about iPhoto slideshows, not Mac OS X screensavers, in which case those settings have no effect.
