Re: Optical Drives
You can always get the (very thin) Apple USB optical drive, or any other third party drive. Really though I can't even think of one single time I've used an optical drive on my current MacBook since I bought it last year. I don't miss it.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

Re: Optical Drives
Add me to the list of people who hardly ever uses their optical drive. I haven't purchase software on disc in ages, and while it's nice to have an optical drive in my 2007-vintage MacBook Pro, if I didn't have it I wouldn't be lost without it.
Re: Optical Drives
I think there are still some out there who need an optical drive either for older software or to view DVDs. Unless you have a MBA, don't buy the Mac Super Drive external unit as it only works with the MBA. Get one from Iomega or LaCie.

Re: Optical Drives
Thanks. But doesn't the Mac Superdrive also work with the Mac Book Retinas, this seems very illogical for Apple ?
