Goodmorning,
A very happy new year from the Netherlands.
and to start the new year: since yesterday I am having problems with my keyboard and Mouse on the IMac.
everything is fine the first few minutes, then the special buttons (arrowkeys, backspace etc) on the keyboard stop working and a bit later all the keys. Also the mouse buttons seem to reverse funtion and get totally different funtions. Restarting gets everything working normal again for a few minutes. I scanned for virusses, but nothing was found. Changing things in settings doesn't help.
Anybdy an idea?

thanks a lot

Well there are several kinds of "I-MACS" and as a rule I have to look the number up on "LOW END MAC"
BUT:(1)
assuming this is a USB keyboard ; this can be a connection problem. as any automotive techncian could tell you many low
voltage computer problems can be cured by simply powering a component down ,cleaning the contacts with electrical cleaner
sparingly {read all safety warnings listed on can in your country} and letting the zero residual cleaner dry, [observing reasonable
precautions about sparks, static, and volitile cleaners] . Some wiggling wires helps clean these contacts.
THIS FREQUENTLY WORKS ON XRAY MACHINES.AIRCRAFT,AUTOMOBILES,AND to a lesser extent boats.
(2)WITH THIS SYSTEM POWERED DOWN, it is a good time to switch the USB CONNECTIONS AROUND WITH EACH OTHER, [TRANSPOSE] THIS MAY ON A MAC (INVISIBLY) AND ON A PC VERY VISIBLY; MAKE THE COMPUTER
RE-AUTO- DETECT THESE PERIFERALS [ACCESSORIES].
(3) THEN POWER THE COMPUTER ON AND LET HAVE TIME TO DWELL ON THESE MATTERS, {THAT IS DRIVER FILE
ASSOCIATE}.
(4 ) IF THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM::: (I) THEN HAVE YOU RECENTLY PLUGGED IN SOME ITEM , SUCH AS
A FLASH DRIVE ,HARD DRIVE, OR SPEAKER SYSTEM THAT DRAWS TOO MANY AMPHERES [AMPS] FOR A MAC
{PCS ALMOST NEVER DO THIS} IF SO YOU SHOULD GET A POWERED USB HUB FOR YOUR COMPUTER.
(2) HAVE THESE ITEMS BEEN WET??? THEY MAY NOT EVER DRY AS WELL.
(3)REPLACE THESE ITEMS {KEYBOARD + MOUSE} APPLE BRAND ONLY AS OTHERS MAY DETECT STRANGELY,
IF AT ALL. I USUALLY BUY G3 BLUE BERRY ONES BULK AND VERY CHEAP FOR THIS ON EBAY. BUT YOUR
LOCAL APPLE DEALER MAY ORDER YOU ONE.
(4)BEYOND THIS , IT MAY BE A MOTHERBOARD CONNECTOR PROBLEM [VERY UNLIKELY BECAUSE YOU SWITCHED
THESE ,OR A SOFTWARE PROBLEM SUCH AS A VIRUS AT WHICH POINT YOU WILL NEED YOUR OS DISK [8 TO X]
AND BOOK TO REINSTALL YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM. THAT CAN BE EASY OR VERY DIFFICULT BUT IF YOU NEED TO BUY THIS SERVER MAY COVER A GREAT MANY MODELS AND LOW END MAC IS A GOOD PLACE TO FIND OUT
WHICH FITS YOUR SPECIFIC APPLE I-MAC.
