Power button MacBook Pro and Maverick

Since installing OS 10.9 I can no longer get the option to choose to sleep or shut down by pressing the power button. Has this handy option been removed?

The new way it works is press and hold down the power button for 1.5 seconds to get the old dialog back with the different options.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.
