Thank you for your quick reply.
If you are an iPhone owner what do you think about the battey life?
I have an iPod touch and I am not very much impressed with it's battery life. Is it same on iPhone?

(Split Into New Topic)

Old iPod Touches and iPhone battery lives may seem unimpressive, however they're roughly middle ground in the smartphone market. The new iPhone 3G S is billed by Apple as having much better battery life.

I seem to charge mine a lot. But that's because I'm constantly connected to Wifi and/or 3G surfing the Internet. But it lasts a while if I limit the use of them.

Old iPhone battery life is very poor but the 3G is much better. The battery life wastes away just as quickly while on Wifi though.

I have to charge my 3Gs daily. Often, I have to charge it more than once a day. I had to buy a charger to keep at work because of the pathetic battery life. I'm not happy with it at all, but it is a powerful phone. With the convenience of a computer with us at all times, I guess we must suffer.

I still have the original iPhone, and I don't have any serious complaints about battery life. When used primarily as an iPod with only modest amounts of EDGE or Wifi use, I find the battery life very good. I have to fly cross-country every so often and usually a couple of movies (or a clutch of TV shows) plus a nice mix or two is all I need, and I still have half a battery for Wifi etc.

I have noticed, however, that some of the newer more elaborate games and apps seem to eat battery.

I chew thru battery, but live on the web/3G. Given the use, about what I expect. When used primarily as an iPod, pretty good.

I've found it's quite normal for the 3G to gobble up power. I charge mine probably two times a day , or run just by plugging in direct into A/C.

We went to the Apple store. They told us that we had 3 apps still running when shut down and this was causing the shortened battery life.

Well, let's be clear about something: when you turn off the screen by clicking the top button, that does not "shut down" the iPhone, and so yes apps *could* still be running in the background (mail checking for mail, iPod still playing, IM apps still active, etc).

If you want to actually shut down an iPhone, you must press and hold the top button *and* slide the red "power off" slider. Once that is done, no apps at all are running.

We agree but that was not the point of the Apple tech. He stated that certain apps that he was able to name did not shut down even though closed an another app is opened. This surprised me since this sounds like multi-tasking. This is of course an error.
