Change from 3GS to 4G

Post by yabbah » July 21st, 2010, 12:21 pm

Hi, I wonder whats happens with all my bought apps and games if I change phone. Can I move them, or do I have to buy them again?

You keep them all. Apple knows what you have bought and will automatically put them onto your new device.

This even works if you have an iPhone and buy an iPad.

It does from a payment perspective but I had to reinstall all my apps even though I backed up my old iPhone and restored to my 4 g. I think it was my mistake though as on the new set up the apps were not sync'd so make sure the option is on. If it isn't it's too late anyway because iTunes wipes your apps on first sync with no option to merge :(

When I switched from my old first generation iPhone to my 3GS, everything followed me. OTOH, a few apps (only a few) didn't translate to my iPad. There may be apps that don't work under iOS 4 or on the iPhone 4. There are also apps that no longer exist. One of my favorites, iSystem Info, no longer exists on the App Store but it works great on my 3GS under iOS 4 and on my iPad.
