Safari won't open on iPhone 3GS

I have tried rebooting and plugging into my computer for updates. Still my iPhone can't access safari. It starts to open the app, and then straight away shuts down. This has gone on for 2 weeks now. Is there a kink in it? Am I the only one with this problem? How do I fix it?

I haven't heard any wide-spread reports of such an issue. Of course, the first questions are, have you restarted your phone? Is your phone jailbroken? Are you updated to the latest version of iOS?
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.
