I have an old iPhone 3G that was restored to original settings, I want to use it as an iPod but i can't get into it because it needs a sim card, is there anyway to bypass that screen so I can use it as an iPod?

I just did this same exact thing to a friend's iPhone 3G about a month ago. We specifically took the SIM out, restored with iTunes, and the thing worked fine, GPS, WiFi, Safari... all of it except the phone.
