Facetalk and WiFi, forever linked?

Do you absolutely HAVE to be connected to wifi to facetalk, y can't I use my data package??

If you mean Facetime, then yes. It's probably arbitrary, likely an agreement between Apple and the carriers to not gobble up so much cellular data.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

If you unlock your phone, there is an app to allow you to FaceTime ovve the network. So it is possible. But I'm liking to bet you have no interest in doing that,and I can't blame you! My opinion is, once they come out with an iPhone with LTE (4G) technology, they will free the FaceTime, and allow it over the network. Their fear now is that their 3G network wouldn't be able to handle it, and it would become bogged down for all users, even those not using FaceTime.
