Rush to check out the excellent tool called "SmartWrap" by Sanford
Selznick. It includes plugins for Eudora & Outlook as well as
AppleScripts for other mail clients and the finder. It automagically
turns the clipboard from dreck to readability. In Eudora, it does
this in place without having to turn on the "write" permission. It
does in it OS9 and X.

Usuall, rebuilding the desktop file solves this kind of problems. You
have to hold down the Option an dthe Command key during startup until
the Mac asks you if you really want to rebuild the desktop file.
However, I probabbly do not correctly understand your problem. Do you
really want to open PDF files with the PDF-creation application? If
they are double-clicked they should open Acrobat Reader, not
Distiller or Writer.

Hi All,
Can anyone please point me in the direction of how to burn a CD to
make it a startup disk with System 9.2.2? I have tried copying a
system folder to the CD, but my TiBook refuses to boot from it (even
when holding down the "c" key while booting). Also the Startup Disk
control panel does not recognize the CD either.
Any idea what I have to do to make such a disk?
Any clues to enlightenment would be GREATLY appreciated...

I had the same problem a few years ago. Don't remember all the details,but
basically it was Word 6.01 failing to run on a new OS. When youmoved to the
G4 did you changed OS too? The solution for me was to use Word 98, which
still does fine on 9.1 and on a friend's 9.2.2.

You have probably not copied over ALL of the Microsoft files and
folders from your old system folder.
It is difficult to transfer a piece of software from one system to a
new one and not forgetting some (more or less important) needed
parts. It's probably easier to install everything new from the
original floppies or CDs.
If you still have access to the old computer, you could connect the
two together and then copy over the old system folder to the new
computer, delete the finder and system files from the old system
folder (to make sure the Mac does not become confused about having to
system folders on the same partition). Then you can go and look
whether the missing file is there, and drag it to the approptiate
location in the new system folder. But, as I said, this is not the
easy way.
Maybe, on a G4 you are even better off using a newer version of MS
Office (I'm using Office 98 on a G3 with OS 9). Word6 is part of
Office 4.something which worked well with MacOS 7.5.5 or 7.6.1. I am
not sure whether it can be used without problems on a G4.
