efax is a small ANSI C/POSIX program that sends and receives faxes using
almost any fax modem (internal or external).

What my program is is a Cocoa front end to the efax program, lets you send
and receive faxes. Also, my program offers many features not available with
just the standalone version of efax (such as sending pdf files, and
coversheets).

You can subscribe ti the info-mac digest so that you get it
automatically whenenver a new issue comes out.

For "back issues", you'd use your ftp application (I personally
prefere FETCH 4.0.1, but every other will do, of course) and connect
to any of the info-mac mirror sites - preferrably the one nearest to
your location or with the fastest / thickest connection to your
location. A list of all mirror sites can be found at

The digest is stored under /_Periodicals/_info-mac, /per/im, or a
similar path.

Subject: problems with USB

I wonder whether anyone can help with this problem.

I have a Starmax Clone (OS 9) without a USB. I would like to download
pictures from my Canon G2 so I installed a Belkin USB Busport PCI card and
downloaded Apples USB Card Support 1.4.1 but I don't think the system is
seeing the USB ports. How can I tell?

I then found out my Canon probably wouldn't work with a 3rd Party USB so I
bought a PNY USB Flash Card Reader hoping that would read the card from the
Canon. Once the Flash card is put in the USB port with cameras card an
'untitled' drive icon is supposed to appear on the desktop but it doesn't.

Does anyone know where I'm going wrong?

Most likely its caused by the system trying to access the Network
Time server to set the date/time. You can disable that in the system
preferences. To be sure you know the cause, you can get WhatRoute
from www.whatroute.net and install it on one of the ethernet Macs.
Get it up and running and set to monitor the ethernet. Once thats
working, set the TiBook to use ethernet and connect it to the
airport. Then start monitor and turn on the TiBook. Once its up,
terminate the monitor and review the packets to see what its trying
to do.
