Mac IIcx with no System Disc.

Post by NinjaModder » July 20th, 2008, 2:07 pm

I am getting a free Mac IIcx with everything with it but the only problem is that it has no system disc. I searched the internet and found out it can run up to system 6.0.3. I kept searching for the system to put on it and came across this.

http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Su ... tem_6.0.x/

I downloaded the 4 parts for 6.0.3. But i have no idea what to do with them!!! I kept reading the readme thing. But i think there might be a problem. I am running Windows XP and have no macs near me. Is there anyway to get this to work?? Am i doing something wrong?

A IIcx can run up to 7.5.5.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

Do you have a CD-ROM drive for this machine, or just the floppy?

System 6.0.3 is the earliest OS the IIcx can run. It can run up to System 7.5.5.

However, if you only have the base 1MB of ram, I would not recommend running System 7 on this machine. Stick with System 6. If you have 4MB or more of ram, try System 7.1.

If you are having trouble making copies of System 6, try the info here, http://lowendmac.com/sable/07/0315.html.

If you still have trouble, let me know. I have a number of old Macs and can make copies of the diskettes.
Anything posted by me is not to be taken seriously.

HERE'S WHERE THAT JUNK EBAY 6100 COMES IN HANDY;REMOVE TOP AND DISCARD,WITH A 7.53 INSTALL DISK.SELF BOOTING,
SEE IF THE 6100 WILL BOOT FROM CD BY ITSELF,SOMETIMES THIS REQUIRES HOLDING THE LETTER "C" DOWN WHILE IT BOOT,IF IT DOES,
USE THE DISK TOOLS [DRIVE SETUP] TO CHECK THE SCSI ID# AND INTIALIZE THE DRIVE'THEN RUN [INSTALL SYSTEM.SOFTWARE]
SWAP HARD DRIVE AS NECESSARY.

Goodday, II cx is 68000 series motorola, you need system enablers for Macs before the new world open architecture. Check out system 7 heaven.Check out Apples resource page for system 7 stuff. I can't mention the fellows name, for fear of reprisals of hate to us old scholars, but a site earthlink host something to poke you in the right direction.
