Subject: [*] chipmunk-basic-3.2.8
Chipmunk Basic is a freeware old-fashioned Basic Interpreter, accelerated for
the PowerMac, yet still compatible with old 68k Macs running System 6. It
includes a simple sprite graphics engine.
Every personal computer should come with a simple, easy to learn, programming
language. Chipmunk Basic was my contribution for the very first PowerMacs.
Version 3.2.8 is a both bug fix and new feature release. It is still free for
educational and non-commercial distribution and use (but only for those who
don't believe that using the BASIC language causes brain damage
Permission
is granted to include this version of Chipmunk Basic on CD-ROM compendiums of
Macintosh archives. Please replace older versions of Chipmunk Basic in the
archives with this version.
Chipmunk Basic only come with a man page and a quick reference to Mac specific
functions. The language is mostly compatible with books on programming in
BASIC that were written between 1978 and 1988.
Please report any bugs you may find to [email protected] .
Version 3.2.8, fixed scrolling bug. added types. MW C 1.3.3
Version 3.2.6, various bug fixes. compiled with MW C 1.3.1

Subject: [*] Collect HTML 1.3.1 XTension
Collect HTML is an XTension for XPress 3.1 or higher that allows you to convert
text from Quark pages into HTML format.
- Styles can be converted into HTML pre- and suffixes.
- Collect creates JPEG or PICT previews from Quark pages or from text or
picture
boxes.
- You can put links to local or remote URL's on selected text from within
Quark;
these links are stored within the Quark document for subsequent collections.
Collect is not well suited to convert complete Quark pages; it better for
'clipping' articles from large pages (e.g. a newspaper) for Web publication.
HTML is not as rich in features as Quark is, so do not expect a WYSIWIG
behaviour in HTML. Collect just tries to help you to create good-looking HTML
documents from Quark pages.
The demo version time limited in two ways: it is usable until February 28,1996,
and each time disables itself 5 minutes after startup of Quark.
If you want a non-time limited version, you should send me your payment and an
e-mail address. Upon reception of payment, I will send you a little activator
application by e-mail to personalise your copy, and to remove the time limit.
Upgrades are easy: download a recent demo version, and run your personal
activator on it.
For previewing collections, you need a browser (e.g. NetScape). For creating
JPEG images, you need QuickTime.

Subject: [*] CommuniGate FaxGate 1.6.1
The FaxGate is a CommuniGate communication module supporting fax messaging.
It converts messages to the fax format and sends them to remote fax machines.
The module can receive incoming faxes and route them as messages to the
recipient(s).
The module is multi-line, i.e. it can support several fax lines
simultaneously.
When installed together with the Voice Gate, FaxGate can route incoming faxes
to any recipient (locally or over e-mail), it can implement fax-on-demand and
other fax-center features.
This version of FaxGate supports Class 2 and Class 2.0 fax modems connected
via serial ports.
To compose and send messages as faxes, you can use not only the CommuniGator
application, but also the print driver "FaxSender".
Changes since the last upload
1.6.1
*?The Convertion options are implemented.
1.6
*?The serial port reading mechanism has been changed to support
OpenTransport/PCI serial drivers.
* The Restriction and Redialing options are implemented.
1.5.1:
* Check for Station Message string length is implemented.
*?No more Add Line crashes on 68000 machines (SE, Plus, Classic, etc).

Subject: [*] CommuniGate PagerGate 1.2
The PagerGate is a CommuniGate communication module supporting wireless
paging. The module uses one or several regular modems. It calls host
computers of paging service companies and transfers the messages along with
the recipients' pager IDs. The host computers then deliver the messages to
the recipients' pagers.
As any other CommuniGate module, PagerGate can be used even if you don't
have it installed on your computer or network: you can use any other
CommuniGate Server with PagerGate via Internet.
Since there are many companies providing paging service, and each company
uses its own pager IDs, you need to know two things in order to send a
message to somebody's pager: the ID of that pager, and also the name of the
paging service provider.
The PagerGate module supports the TAP protocol (used by US paging services),
it is multi-line, and it supports connections with several paging hosts.
When you configure the PagerGate module, you create entities ("lines") for
each service company you want to be able to use for paging. When done, you
address a pager as dddd%nnnn, where dddd is the ID of the pager, nnnn is
the name of the paging company.
Sample: 777777%PageMart
Changes since the last upload:
1.2
*?Message Format is now set individually for each paging host;
*?The Strip End-Of-Line Symbols option is implemented;
* The monitor window now displays port/host suspension times.
* Time-Outs were increased to improve reliabilty when working with
slow hosts.
1.1.1
*?A bug that caused crashes on 68000 machines when adding a modem line
has been fixed;

Subject: [*] CommuniGate POPGate 1.1
The POPGate is a CommuniGate communication module supporting e-mail message
transfer using the POP Internet protocol (RFC1725) via TCP/IP network.
The POPGate module supports multi-stream communications. For each registered
user, POPGate can retrieve messages from several remote mailboxes and provide
access to CommuniGate user mailboxes for several remote users simultaneously.
Retrieving mail:
Sometimes (usually, when your CommuniGate server is not directly connected to
Internet), mail is stored on some foreign "mail servers". The POP protocol
allows client applications to connect to those "mail servers" and retrieve
mail from mailboxes on those servers.
Each registered CommuniGate user can specify POP accounts he/she has on remote
mail servers, and POPGate will automatically make connections, retrieve new
mail and store mail in user's In Box mailboxes.
When you have many local users, you may consider getting your own domain name.
In this case your network provider can store all messages directed to your
domain in one POP account. POPGate can retrieve mail from such a "unified",
domain-wide account. When specified, that account is polled periodically, and
all messages retrieved from it are delivered to CommuniGate users. Since the
"envelope" information is lost when messages are stored in a unified POP
account, sometimes it is not possible to automatically route a message
retrieved from that account. In this case the message is routed to CommuniGate
Postmaster.
For dial-up linked system, you will use POPGate to retrieve your mail from the
mail server(s), and you will use SMTPGate to send your mail. When a dial-up
(MacPPP) link is used, POPGate initiates dial-up connections only when it is
allowed by the schedule set with the "PPP Dialing" CommuniGate Server
settings.
You may want to enable access to CommuniGate user mailboxes via Internet. Any
E-mail software supporting POP protocol can be used to connect to your
CommuniGate server and to retrieve mail from user mailboxes using POPGate.
Changes since the last upload:
1.1.
*?Support for dial-up TCP/IP Links is implemented.

Subject: [*] CommuniGate Server 1.8.7
The kernel part of the CommuniGate integrated messaging system is the
CommuniGate Server. When installed, it runs in background and:
* stores all messages sent and received;
* enables network access for CommuniGate users, maintains their mailboxes,
queues, etc.;
* loads and runs CommuniGate modules (i.e. FaxGate, UUCPGate, VoiceGate,
etc.) and creates the run-time environment for those modules;
* maintains system activity log;
* implements routing algorithms;
* maintains a resource database and provides access to that database for
CommuniGate users and CommuniGate modules (fax cover pages, sounds,
voice scripts, info tables, etc.).
The CommuniGate services can be accessed with the CommuniGator client
software. The client software allows you to compose and read messages, to
manage your mailboxes, etc. It is also used by CommuniGate administrator to
configure, maintain, monitor and control the CommuniGate server - locally
or remotely.
Installation
Read the Installation chapter of the CommuniGate System Manuals for
instructions. Read other chapters to configure your system. When the system
is up and running, you can install communication modules to support faxing
(FaxGate), printing (PrintGate), paging (PagerGate), Internet e-mail
(UUCPGate, SMTPGate and/or POPGate). See the manuals that come with each
module for instructions.
Changes since the last upload
1.8.7
*?Dial-up TCP/IP communications are now supported. The PPP Dialing item
appears in the Server menu if MacPPP/FreePPP is installed. MacPPP
connections should cause much less problems now, with introduction of
the TCP Agent applet.
1.8.5
*?Several internal improvements and fixes. Workaround for the MacOS File
Manager bug causing the -43 error.

Subject: [*] CommuniGate SMTPGate 1.2
The SMTPGate is a CommuniGate communication module supporting e-mail message
transfer using the SMTP Internet protocol (RFC821) via TCP/IP network.
The SMTPGate module supports multi-stream communications and can send
messages to and receive messages from several other hosts simultaneously.
The SMTPGate module can work together with POPGate module providing complete
TCP/IP Internet e-mail services.
The SMTPGate module can work together with UUCPGate module providing both
TCP/IP and UUCP Internet e-mail. The CommuniGate Router takes care of
directing messages to the proper gate.
The SMTPGate module can use an external, "foreign" mail server (the mode most
of other Macintosh e-mail packages use), or it can deliver messages directly,
using the DNR services.
When a foreign mail server is used, SMTPGate connects to it and sends all
messages from its queue to that host. Since the mail server host is usually a
host on the same network, messages are sent quickly. But this method can cause
additional delay in message delivery, since messages are queued on the foreign
server and those queues can be rather long. Using Foreign Mail Server method
is recommended when your server is connected to Internet via dial-up lines
(using PPP or SLIP protocols) and you want messages to leave your server as
soon as possible to keep the connection time short.
Changes since the last upload:
1.2
* Dial-up links are supported now, the "Sleep Time" option is gone.
* Addresses in form of ip-addresses [xx.yy.zz.tt] are processed properly now.
* Error reporting is improved.

Subject: [*] MusiCalc v.4.2
Type: HyperCard stack (calculation tool, time utility, music utility)
Author: Michael Riesman ([email protected])
Requirements: Mac running HyperCard 1.2 or later.
Upgrade - December 1995. Now supports both 80 and 100 bits (subframes) per
frame. Paste results directly into ProTools and Sound Designer II time
windows. Time display optionally in seconds & decimal fractions, or rounded
(to 1/2 second, nearest second, or up). Shareware.
MusiCalc is a multi-functional HyperCard-based music and time
calculator which should prove useful to anyone who needs to add, subtract,
multiply, and divide time on a scale of minutes and seconds. The advantage
of this time calculator, above others available, is that the entries are
free-form and may be corrected, annotated, copied, cut, pasted, and
recalculated.
MusiCalc consists of 4 calculator elements: 1) MusiCalc, a calculator
for musical time relationships (calculates time from bars & tempo, bars
>From time & tempo, and tempo from bars & time, and converts
beats-per-minute to frames-per-beat & vice-versa); 2) TimeCalc, a time
calculator which properly adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides minutes,
seconds, frames, and bits (with optional entry of tenths, hundredths, etc.
in place of, or combined with, these subdivisions); 3) BarCalc, a formula
evaluator which simplifies computing the length of a piece of music,
particularly music with changing meters and/or repeating sections whose
measure-number count does not correspond to elapsed beats (BarCalc can be
used for any kind of multi-part formula evaluation); and 4) SMPTECalc,
which calculates sum and difference times using a stored SMPTE timecode
number and MusiCalc or TimecCalc results, facilitating re-synchronization.

Subject: [*] PortConnector 2.0.1
The PortConnector software can emulate a serial port using some other serial
port, thus enabling access to all CTB-registered serial ports (like PCMCIA
modems) for applications supporting only the built-in Modem and Printer ports.
The PortConnector software enables all your communication applications to
employ Communication Toolbox (CTB) Connection Tools, and/or TCP streams
instead of modems or direct serial links. Old applications can be used for
communicating through X.25, TCP/IP, ISDN and any other network supported with
a Connection Tool. As a result, you can connect to your office network using
AppleTalk Remote Access through ISDN or TCP/IP, you can use old terminal
emulators with TCP/IP, ADSP, X.25, etc.
This version fixes the problem that caused some machines to crash when the
New dialog box was about to appear.
See the attached files for details.

Subject: [*] TextToHTML 1.3.1
TextToHTML quickly converts text or RTF files dropped onto its icon into HTML
format. With TextToHTML you can set up a basic WWW structure in 15 minutes,
starting from scratch. When converting multiple text, RTF or HTML files at
once,
it also creates an HTML index file with links to those files, complete with
graphical bullets if necessary. It can also automatically include images when
they are present.
(RTF = Rich Text Format, used by several word processors; HTML = Hyper Text
Markup Language, used for formatting documents on the WWW = World Wide Web).
By default, TextToHTML has the following behaviour:
* The first 'real' text line it finds in an original text or RTF file is
interpreted to be the window title and it is also tagged as an header. The
rest of the file is considered to be body text.
* Single carriage returns or line feeds are converted to the tag, multiple
sequential carriage returns are collapsed into a tag.
* Special and reserved characters are converted according to the list of ISO
Latin-1 character entities. Mac characters without ISO Latin-1 counterpart are
converted to character sequences with some visual similarity.
* The creator of the converted HTML files is set to MOSS (Netscape).
* If there are GIF or JPEG image files available to use as a logo, bullets, or
illustrations, they are be linked in automatically. The names of the image
files
determines the linking.
* For reference purposes, the filename of the original file is added at the end
of the resulting HTML file.
* Most of the features listed above can be customised using the Setup
TextToHTML
application

Version History
Version 1.0d3 January 1995: Maintenance release:
* Improved file reverting;
* Dramatically sped up the flood-fill tool;
* Added version number to Splash Screen and some basic error reporting;
* Changed the App's name from Ult. 3 Scenario Editor to Ultima III Editor;
* Minor bug-fixes.
Version 1.0d2 December 1995: First Public Release.
Ult. 3 Character Editor 1.0 August 1995: First public denial that I would
ever write this program.
Ladies, Gentlemen, and Others
The Ult. 3 Scenario Editor is a scenario editor for Ultima III '95, by Leon
McNeill. Version 1.0 includes (NOTE: if this is a development release
(i.e., 1.0d3), be sure to convert all verbs of be to the future tense):
* Editing all Castle/Towne/Outdoor maps; variable size maps (up to 255x255)
are supported.
* Reading from and saving to Ultima III directly.
* Extracting important scenario data into a special file format. These
scenario files can be installed into and extracted from Ultima III. They
will replace modifying the Ultima III executable directly. The scenario
files will also make sharing scenarios with others a little easier.
* Editing monsters, townefolke, and their dialogue (monologue?);
* Changing the positions of Townes, Castles, Dungeons, and MoonGates;
* Changing the names of Weapons, Armor, Character Classes and Races (and
sexes?);
* Printing maps to printers. Unlike the old Apple II version which dumped
hexadecimal to a line printer, the scenario editor will generate nice Color
Quickdraw images;
* A nifty Test Map mode, where you can move through Outdoor/Towne maps as
if you were playing the game. Line-of-sight effects will be honored, but
movement restrictions will not (walk on water, mountains, etc). Using this
feature you can test shading and other aspects of a map w/o having to load
up Ultima III, and crawl around obstacles;
* And more=8A
