MacBook hard drive

When I switched my new hard drive 250 gb into my MacBook it doesn't read it. Any suggestions to how to fix it?

I guess you would have to define "doesn't read it" for us. Is Disk Utility not reading it, thus preventing you from partitioning and formatting it?
